Former Bachelor star Sam Wood is pursuing a second bail application in the supreme court after being jailed on domestic violence charges in Queensland.

Former Bachelor contestant and wellness personality Sam Wood is currently seeking a second release from custody through the supreme court as his legal proceedings continue. The forty-six-year-old Melbourne resident has remained incarcerated since early October following his apprehension in Noosa during a family holiday. Authorities charged him with two domestic violence counts, specifically relating to assault causing bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting, stemming from allegations involving his wife Snezana.

During the latest court proceedings, crown prosecutors detailed serious aspects of the alleged incident. According to legal representatives, the violence supposedly involved force applied to the neck as well as impacts to the head against the floor and skirting boards. Prosecutors noted that the alleged altercation took place near young children and an adult witness, arguing that the conduct showed escalation and maintaining that the strangulation charge places the accused in a position requiring him to demonstrate why he should not remain detained.

Legal counsel for the accused indicated an intention to contest the accusations. During earlier court sessions, statements recorded via video indicated that the complainant experienced a cessation of breath and feared for her life during the event. While crown submissions highlighted arguments regarding a party lifestyle and substance use, defense lawyers countered that addiction was not present and that the accused experienced significant stressors.

Defense arguments presented to the court suggested that if released, the accused would reside in Tasmania with his father and accept conditions to avoid Victoria entirely. Furthermore, legal representatives proposed participation in a behavioral change program and noted that a substantial financial surety had been offered by an associate to ensure future court attendance. The defense also pointed out potential delays before trial, arguing that time spent awaiting proceedings could exceed any eventual sentence if convicted. The court reserved its decision regarding the application.
