Residents evacuated from Oleshky experienced emotional reunions with their families in northern Ukraine following a temporary frontline ceasefire.
People who were evacuated from the devastated and Russian-occupied city of Oleshky experienced deeply emotional moments as they were reunited with their loved ones on Saturday. The arrivals crossed from Belarus into Ukraine after a journey that had previously taken them through Crimea and Russia following their initial evacuation from the Ukrainian town on Friday.
The families came together at a designated site located in the Chernihiv region of northern Ukraine. The evacuees reached the area after completing their transit aboard buses and ambulances, concluding a complex journey away from the occupied zone.

This movement of residents was made possible by a ceasefire that took effect across the frontline region of Kherson on Tuesday. The truce arrangement was brokered by US First Lady Melania Trump to pause hostilities in the targeted area.
The established ceasefire measures are scheduled to remain active until the conclusion of Sunday 1 November. Observers and reporters stationed near the border area monitored the arrival of the buses and ambulances carrying the weary travelers to the greeting site in the Chernihiv region.
The temporary cessation of hostilities allows vulnerable residents from occupied zones to travel through designated corridors to safety and family contact. This development impacts displaced populations seeking reconnection with relatives inside Ukrainian territory during the active truce period.
