The cross-chain swap protocol THORChain has resumed trading operations across the majority of its supported external networks after a weekend suspension. Following the operational update regarding rune thorchain news, the native token recorded a notable recovery over a twenty-four-hour observation window.

Data from CoinMarketCap indicated that the asset traded around $0.64 on Wednesday, marking an increase of roughly 15% compared to the previous day. Network status indicators revealed that transaction signing and swap functionalities were operating normally on ten of the thirteen connected blockchain networks.

External networks including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Litecoin, Tron, and Zcash showed active trading capabilities once again. Meanwhile, Avalanche, Base, and XRP had already resumed functionality prior to the initial reporting of the network halt on Monday.

However, BNB Smart Chain, Cosmos Hub, and Solana continued to display warnings concerning both swap and transaction signing capabilities. The service interruption originally commenced on Saturday after a single-block Ethereum reorganization incorrectly removed a credited deposit of 10 Ether.

Because the swap failed to reach its specified price limit, the platform issued an automatic refund for funds that the vault never actually collected. The original sender also received their deposit back, creating an unintended extra payout of 10 ETH that forced an automated pause.

Following the incident, node operators halted activity across multiple chains while engineering teams examined the issue. Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis noted that the temporary freeze also inadvertently delayed money laundering attempts linked to North Korean hackers moving stolen funds from a major security breach.

THORChain resumed swaps on most networks, pushing the native token up by fifteen percent.

Why it matters

The partial restoration of network operations re-establishes key cross-chain exchange routes for users relying on decentralized liquidity pools. While ten networks are functioning normally, the continued suspension on chains like Solana and Cosmos highlights ongoing technical hurdles in decentralized infrastructure security.
