CrowdStrike has introduced a new security control designed to halt unauthorized operations by autonomous software within corporate environments, alongside an agreement to purchase the AI observability startup Fiddler AI. The cybersecurity firm revealed the innovations during its Fal.Con Europe 2026 conference held in Barcelona, broadening the capabilities of its Falcon Guardian platform to help administrators manage autonomous tools.

Modern digital enterprises increasingly rely on independent software capable of executing code, handling confidential files, and connecting directly to various business utilities. Unlike traditional automated programs, these newer entities can carry out multiple steps independently, creating risks of unintended outcomes even without malicious intent. For instance, a program tasked with managing records might misread instructions or encounter embedded guidance that triggers undesired actions, making security intervention essential.

The newly developed control allows security personnel to interrupt a running process before completion. Operating initially through AI gateways, the system can block access to the underlying models. Future updates will enable direct process termination on endpoints and synchronized restrictions across diverse cloud setups and company networks. Administrators trigger the mechanism manually, creating permanent audit records while preventing restarts and limiting network connections.

CrowdStrike launched an AI agent kill switch and announced plans to acquire Fiddler AI.

In addition to intervention tools, the firm is integrating protective measures across various development assistants and coding environments, including tools from major technology providers. These safeguards inspect prompts and enforce organizational policies to minimize vulnerabilities, addressing risks previously identified by researchers regarding code generation tools.

Understanding Fiddler AI Integration

To complement the immediate intervention capabilities, CrowdStrike agreed to acquire Fiddler AI in a transaction valued near $400 million, utilizing primarily cash alongside conditional stock. Fiddler specializes in tracing decisions, evaluating models prior to deployment, and tracking behavioral shifts. These diagnostic capabilities provide essential visibility for compliance audits and security investigations following unexpected events. The acquisition is projected to conclude during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2027.

Why it matters

This development addresses growing enterprise concerns regarding autonomous software executing complex workflows without constant human supervision. By introducing rapid intervention mechanisms and advanced behavioral monitoring, the initiative helps organizations mitigate operational risks and maintain compliance standards across corporate networks.
