The 2026 Diana Award Roll of Honour features 198 young leaders, with 49 Indian recipients leading the global list for their social and humanitarian impact.
The 2026 Diana Award Roll of Honour has been announced, revealing that nearly 1 in 4 of the world's most impactful young changemakers hail from India. During a virtual ceremony held on November 4, it was confirmed that 49 out of 198 recipients from 44 countries are Indian, marking the largest national contingent in this year's cohort. India surpassed Nigeria, which had 25 winners, and the United States, which saw 23 young leaders recognized.
Established to honor the legacy of Diana, Princess of Wales, the award celebrates individuals aged 16 to 25 who demonstrate exceptional leadership, resilience, and a commitment to social action. Each recipient is awarded a certificate and personal letters of appreciation from Prince William and Prince Harry. This yearโs Indian cohort includes innovators tackling challenges in artificial intelligence, clean energy, healthcare, and infrastructure.
Nearly 25 percent of the 2026 Diana Award recipients are young innovators from India.
Notable Indian Innovators
Among the distinguished recipients is Adarsh Kumar, who is also the first Indian winner of the $100,000 Chegg.org Global Student Prize. Having grown up in poverty in Bihar, Kumar founded Skillzo, a social enterprise that has provided mentorship and educational access to over 20,000 students. Other winners are focused on practical, community-based solutions. Aditya Yadav developed an AI-driven system to detect water contaminants, while Krish Aggarwalโs Project Vayu created low-cost fan-based air purifiers that have benefited over 10,000 students in Delhi.
Technological advancement remains a core theme among the winners. Prerna Singhal, founder of Viksit Youth, created an AI-powered eldercare platform and a patented road-safety device. Meanwhile, Shiv Mandlik has addressed construction safety through a modular beam design and a fall-detection application, assisting over 21,000 workers. Agricultural technology is also represented by Saksham Kumar, whose initiative has provided workshops on modern irrigation and drone use to more than 25,000 farmers.
Why it matters
The 2026 Diana Award Roll of Honour highlights the significant role young Indians play in driving global social change. By transforming grassroots ideas into scalable initiatives, these recipients are addressing critical issues ranging from environmental sustainability to public health, directly benefiting thousands of citizens across India and beyond.
