Troops push further into eastern al-Jawf as fighting escalates across multiple provinces and regional tensions rise.

Yemeni government forces announced an expansion of their military footprint into the al-Dahida mountain range within eastern al-Jawf province. This movement follows claims of securing key heights during an ongoing campaign against Houthi forces. Military officials reported that infantry units, supported by air power and unmanned aerial vehicles, breached defensive positions and storage depots, resulting in significant materiel capture and heavy opposition casualties.

These advances form part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, which has entered its second month. Troops previously spent weeks engaging Houthi strongholds to retake elevated positions east of al-Hazm, the provincial capital. Rashad al-Alimi, leading the Presidential Leadership Council, stated that the military campaign will persist until state authority and institutions are re-established across the nation.

Yemeni government forces advance further into strategic al-Jawf mountain ranges amid escalating nationwide clashes.

Simultaneously, conflict intensified in other regions. A ballistic missile strike attributed to the Houthis hit a military training camp in al-Dhalea, causing fatalities and injuries among recruits. Government troops also engaged in airstrikes in western Taiz and recaptured positions in al-Maqatira, securing a vital defensive link to Aden. Meanwhile, Houthi-affiliated media reported multiple air attacks on camps and health facilities in al-Bayda and Taiz.

Regional Tensions and Foreign Allegations

Yemen’s Interior Minister Ibrahim Ali Haidan claimed that foreign operatives are directing Houthi military actions, specifically identifying individuals from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Lebanon’s Hezbollah, though Hezbollah dismissed the assertion. Concurrently, security alerts were triggered in southern Saudi Arabia following intercepted aerial threats, while the United States embassy in Riyadh issued warnings regarding potential escalations in Houthi attacks.

Why it matters

The ongoing territorial shifts and expanding military engagements alter the balance of power across several key provinces in Yemen. These developments affect regional security dynamics and infrastructure stability, while drawing warnings from international diplomatic missions regarding potential wider escalations.
