Tennis great Rafael Nadal set to join Real Madrid board

Real Madrid has moved to add a champion from another sporting discipline to its boardroom. The club confirmed on Wednesday that the appointment of tennis star Rafael Nadal as a director will be submitted to the General Assembly of Delegated Members for formal ratification. The board agreed during a Tuesday meeting to advance the proposal for the honorary club member.

In an official statement, the club expressed immense pride that a figure of such sporting and personal stature would join the leadership. Real Madrid highlighted Nadal's extensive achievements, which include 92 singles titles, five Davis Cup triumphs for Spain, two Olympic gold medals, and reaching the world number one ranking. Meanwhile, Perez secured another four-year term in June after facing a contested election against challenger Enrique Riquelme.
