Samsung has integrated stablecoin functionality into its mobile ecosystem, allowing qualified users in the United States to purchase USDC directly inside the Samsung Wallet application. Eligible device owners running Android 13 or later with fingerprint authentication enabled can now access a dedicated Stablecoin Account using funding options processed by Stripe.

The feature supports purchasing USDC through Samsung Pay, credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfers. Users may also fund the account by linking a Coinbase account or by receiving digital assets from external wallets on supported networks. Custody of the digital currency is handled by Bastion in partnership with Coinbase's institutional custody solutions.

Account creation requires standard identifying information, including a name, residential address, birth date, and taxpayer identification number, with additional verification requests possible. The rollout applies exclusively to individuals aged 18 and older living in permitted US jurisdictions, explicitly excluding residents of New York. Each person is limited to a single account held in their own name.

Samsung Wallet now lets eligible US Galaxy users buy and hold USDC through Stripe.

Understanding Samsung and Stripe Integration

Transaction fees, processing times, and funding limits vary depending on the chosen payment method and destination. While Samsung does not charge for transfers directed to external wallets, separate service providers may impose their own fees. Users are cautioned that sending unsupported digital assets or utilizing incompatible blockchain networks can lead to the permanent loss of funds. Furthermore, accounts remaining dormant for over a year may be subject to a maintenance fee.

Why it matters

This development bridges traditional payment methods like bank ACH and credit cards with blockchain infrastructure across a massive installed base of compatible hardware. For eligible consumers, it streamlines the process of acquiring and managing digital dollars directly from a mobile wallet interface while highlighting the growing compliance and custodial frameworks required for mainstream stablecoin adoption.
