A Manchester court has heard how a Stockport husband who drugged and raped his wife connected with many men who shared a fantasy of abusing an unconscious woman.
A Manchester crown court has heard harrowing details regarding a Stockport man who drugged and raped his wife over a period spanning more than two decades. The husband, now in his 60s, has pleaded guilty to multiple offences against the victim. On the second day of the prosecution case, Louise Oakley KC addressed the jury at Manchester Minshull Street crown court, explaining that the perpetrator personally located numerous individuals who harbored severe perversions regarding incapacitated partners.
The investigation revealed that the husband began his pattern of offending in 2015 after meeting his first contact, Robert Stewart, via an online classifieds platform. This interaction established a blueprint for his subsequent crimes. Stewart supplied the husband with antidepressants and Tramadol in exchange for promised access if the woman was rendered unconscious. The court heard that the husband subsequently utilized news sites and online forums to research date-raising substances, GHB, and sleeping pills, eventually connecting with a network of individuals who sought out explicit imagery and opportunities to participate in the abuse.

Further defendants were implicated during the proceedings. David Graves supplied the husband with tablets and demanded expedited imagery in return. Philip Wild visited the property to assault the victim while she remained unaware and incapable of consenting. Additional figures, including Daniel Rayner and Graham Brougham, communicated via encrypted messaging applications, discussed drug acquisition, and shared abusive content. While nine men currently stand trial and deny the charges against them, three others have already entered guilty pleas for participating in the abuse, and one has admitted to non-contact offences.
