Nepal has partnered with TikTok and the Nepal Tourism Board to launch the Visit Nepal campaign, promoting the country globally through digital storytelling.

Kathmandu welcomed a major tourism initiative on Friday as the nation officially rolled out the Visit Nepal campaign in partnership with the Nepal Tourism Board and the social media platform TikTok. Designed to showcase the country to the global tourism market, the campaign relies on digital content, storytelling, and creative technology to highlight Nepal's natural beauty, heritage, unique culture, and diverse tourism experiences. Planning a trip involves exploring nepal visit options, and this initiative aims to reach audiences worldwide.

The launch event took place with attendance from government figures, including Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timilsina, who served as the chief guest. Organised collaboratively by the Tourism Board, TikTok, and the Nepal government, the campaign is scheduled to run through the end of 2026. Officials highlighted that the project seeks to position Nepal as a premier destination while simultaneously connecting local communities, entrepreneurs, businesses, and creators with the broader digital economy.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Timilsina noted how digital tools have fundamentally shifted how people discover travel destinations. He emphasized that storytelling from any corner of the globe can inspire international travelers to visit Nepal, while welcoming TikTok as a long-term partner in connecting local culture, creativity, and youth with the international community. Sunil Sharma, acting director of the Tourism Board's Public Relations and Promotion Department, added that the partnership brings a fresh dimension to the country's promotional strategy.

Nepal has launched a major global tourism campaign in collaboration with TikTok to run until the end of 2026.

Global Creators and Digital Training

As part of the ongoing rollout, nine international travel content creators hailing from Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and Europe traveled across various tourist spots in Nepal between October 30 and November 7, documenting and sharing their journeys with worldwide audiences. Furthermore, a dedicated Visit Nepal hashtag page is now live on TikTok. The Tourism Board is working alongside local content creators and Nepali celebrities utilizing TikTok's Collab feature, alongside live broadcasts from popular tourist locations.

Prior to the official launch, TikTok and the Tourism Board conducted digital storytelling training sessions benefiting over 300 local content creators and tourism entrepreneurs. Emir Gelen, TikTok's head of government relations and public policy for the Middle East, Eurasia and Africa, stated that the initiative aids in showcasing local potential while allowing small businesses and creators to reap the advantages of the digital economy.

Why it matters

This partnership changes how Nepal approaches international tourism promotion by shifting focus toward digital content and global storytelling networks. By engaging creators, entrepreneurs, and digital platforms through 2026, the campaign directly impacts local communities and businesses in South Asia and beyond, connecting regional tourism with a wider worldwide audience.
