Intelligence reports reveal that Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists sheltered by Pakistan are undergoing maritime and scuba diving training near Karachi under tourist disguise.

Intelligence reports indicate that operatives from the Lashkar-e-Taiba group sheltered by Pakistan are currently receiving instruction in maritime operations near Karachi. While India has monitored various forms of pakistan training related to terror infrastructure over the years, the latest intelligence reveals that operatives are learning scuba diving and combat swimming under the guise of leisure visitors.

Undercover Operations At Charna Island

The training activities are reportedly taking place at Charna Island, situated roughly fifty kilometres from Karachi. Known widely as a destination for holidaymakers due to its underwater exploration spots, the location is being used to present the trainees as ordinary tourists engaging in recreational scuba diving. According to intelligence inputs, the faction is identified as the Lashkar maritime wing or Sada-e-Hurriyat, with instructors belonging to the Pakistan Markazi Muslim League, a proxy organization linked to the terror group.

Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists sheltered by Pakistan are training for maritime operations near Karachi under tourist disguise.

Historically, the organization conducted training sessions at the Mangla Dam in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as well as inside swimming pools constructed at terror launch pads. Indian precision strikes have previously targeted several of these launch pads and infrastructure sites, including the headquarters located at Muridke. Security agencies note that the group has maintained a small maritime unit since the 2008 Mumbai attacks and is now actively expanding its capacity for larger operations launched from the sea.

Why it matters

The ongoing maritime training highlights persistent cross-border security challenges affecting South Asia, particularly given that the 2008 Mumbai attacks were carried out by operatives arriving via the sea. Indian security agencies remain fully informed about these developments and are actively preparing to counter any potential threats originating from maritime routes.
