The India Today Group's Kisan Tak platform is gearing up to host its flagship Bharat Agriculture Conference 2026 in New Delhi, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders to deliberate on the future of the nation's agrarian economy. The two-day international event is scheduled for November 11 and 12 at Bharat Mandapam, operating under the guiding theme โSmart Kisan, Viksit Bharatโ to address critical topics such as farm productivity, ecological sustainability, and enhanced grower revenue.
Presented jointly by Mahindra Tractors and Mahadhan Agritech, the summit has secured formal support from the Union Ministry of Agriculture and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Organisers anticipate a gathering of roughly 2,000 farmers from various corners of the country, who will have the rare opportunity to network directly with policymakers, leading scientists, international agricultural heads, and industry representatives.
Smart farming involves maintaining soil health, lowering input costs and strengthening farmer incomes.
The agenda features extensive panel discussions alongside cultural segments that highlight grassroots transformation. Several Padma Shri recipients, including Rahibai Soma Popere, Trinita Syiem, Nekram Sharma, Sultan Singh, and Sundaram Verma, are slated to share their insights on merging traditional wisdom with contemporary technology. Cultural performances will be led by prominent artists like Prahlad Tipaniya, Rudra Pratap Rudra, and Chandan Tiwari, with Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari also scheduled to participate.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan endorsed the initiative, characterising it as a vital framework for the collective advancement of the nation's food providers. He emphasised that sustainable agricultural practices and reduced operational expenses are essential components of achieving a self-reliant and developed nation.
Why it matters
Agriculture and its allied sectors directly provide livelihoods to approximately 46 percent of India's workforce, underscoring the critical nature of rural economic health. With national foodgrain production reaching a milestone of 357.73 million tonnes during the 2024-25 period as estimated by the Economic Survey, the conference arrives at a pivotal time for translating high output volumes into tangible financial security and wider international market access for growers.
