During the completed November 2-6 week, United States spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds experienced significant net withdrawals totaling $1,282 million across the twelve tracked funds. The movement was heavily concentrated in a single product, with BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust accounting for the vast majority of the category's retreat.
Specifically, BlackRock's fund recorded weekly net outflows of $1,210 million, which represented 94.4% of the aggregate net withdrawals for the group. In contrast, Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund moved in the opposite direction by registering weekly net inflows of $93 million, while three additional funds also finished the period with positive results. All funds excluding the BlackRock product collectively recorded minor net outflows of $72 million over the same timeframe.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust drove 94% of weekly net withdrawals across US spot Bitcoin ETFs.
Examining the daily progression, BlackRock's fund logged withdrawals across all five sessions. The broader group achieved a positive net flow only on November 4, while November 6 alone saw net outflows of $412 million. By the end of November 6, iShares reported net assets of approximately $61 billion for the fund, making the weekly withdrawals roughly 2% of that ending asset base.
Market observers note that fund flow figures do not automatically establish direct contemporaneous open-market selling or specific investor motivations. The relevant prospectus outlines both cash and in-kind settlement methods, where cash redemptions involve the trust selling bitcoin and delivering cash, while in-kind redemptions deliver bitcoin directly to authorized participants or their agents. Farside Investors data does not clarify which redemption route was utilized or how recipients subsequently managed the assets.
Why it matters
This capital movement highlights how a single major product can dictate the aggregate performance of the broader US spot Bitcoin ETF sector. Understanding these dynamics helps market participants evaluate underlying demand and redemption pressures as upcoming macroeconomic indicators approach.
