A striking new monument honoring Satoshi Nakamoto has been unveiled in downtown Buenos Aires, marking a unique intersection of art, technology, and education. Driven by Bitcoin.ar through the fifth edition of the Premio BยทArte, the 2.4-meter stainless steel and glass cube was presented on October 29 at Polo Dot as part of the Open Fest of LABITCONF 2026. The inauguration featured guided remarks by co-founder Rodolfo Andragnes and a musical performance by Mayumanรก.
Created by Bariloche-based artists Ricardo Alonso, an engineer, and Celeste Difabio Videla, an architect, the multi-dimensional structure is designed to function as both a tribute and an educational experience. Aida Pippo, a visual artist and member of the Board of Directors of Bitcoin.ar, led the project and coordinated its production. Financed by the Fundacion Bitcoin Iberoamerica, the monument features five faces that explore different foundational principles of Bitcoin, from its anonymous creator to its programmed scarcity and historical roots.

Each face of the cube offers a distinct gateway into the cryptocurrency's philosophy. One face highlights the anonymous nature of Satoshi Nakamoto and the collective growth of the global network. Another addresses the halving mechanism through a Fibonacci sequence, illustrating the supply limit of 21 million bitcoins. The sculpture also incorporates the initial words of the 2008 white paper regarding direct electronic payments, details from the January 2009 genesis block including a reference to a historical newspaper headline, and the guiding maxims 'Don't trust, verify' and 'Vires in numeris.'
## Argentine Community Unveils Monument
Organizers intend for the sculpture to serve as a permanent resource for schools, universities, families, and visitors to learn about the history and future of money. Andragnes expressed pride in leaving a cultural and educational footprint in the city, while the creators noted their hope for the work to act as a community meeting point.
Why it matters
This permanent public installation brings cryptocurrency history out of screens and specialized environments into a cultural space for the general public. It establishes a lasting educational resource in Buenos Aires to foster discussions on the future of money and technology across generations.
